Weather MCP Service is an MCP server that provides real-time meteorological information and weather forecasts to AI clients. Built on top of FastAPI and Python, it creates an HTTP-accessible bridge between weather data endpoints and AI assistants such as Claude Desktop. Software engineers, automation developers, and AI agent creators use this service to supply LLMs with structured atmospheric conditions and predictive weather insights. Instead of manually inspecting external forecast providers, users can prompt their AI assistant to fetch current conditions or multi-day forecasts for planning and analysis. The service runs locally as a web service, exposing standard interactive API documentation through Swagger UI and ReDoc while facilitating integration with external systems. By standardizing weather retrieval through the Model Context Protocol, the tool enables language models to accurately incorporate environmental data into scheduling routines, outdoor planning workflows, and context-dependent decision pipelines without requiring custom API integration code for each distinct agent.

bash poetry install 3. Start the server locally (it runs by default on http://localhost:8000): bash poetry run start 4. Optional: Run tests using poetry run pytest or inspect documentation at http://localhost:8000/docs. 5. Register the server in your claude_desktop_config.json configuration file: json { "mcpServers": { "weather": { "url": "http://localhost:8000" } } } 6. Restart Claude Desktop to apply the new configuration.Part of MCP Servers
To install Weather MCP Service, clone the repository and verify Python 3.8 or higher is available. Use Poetry to install project dependencies by running poetry install, and then launch the local server with poetry run start.
Weather MCP Service provides real-time weather information and forecast data to connected MCP clients. It runs as a local FastAPI application, serving weather context to AI agents and providing interactive API documentation via Swagger UI and ReDoc.
Weather MCP Service works with Claude Desktop by configuring its URL in the claude_desktop_config.json file. It can also connect to any other MCP client that supports connecting to HTTP-based MCP server endpoints.
You can run the test suite by executing poetry run pytest in the project directory. Additionally, you can inspect and manually test API endpoints by visiting http://localhost:8000/docs or http://localhost:8000/redoc once the server is started.
