Salaah MCP is an MCP server that provides Islamic prayer times and astronomical calculations to Model Context Protocol clients such as Claude Desktop. It connects to the underlying islamic_times calculation engine and serves data through a FastAPI framework. The service enables users and AI assistants to calculate accurate daily prayer schedules including Fajr, Sunrise, Zuhr, Asr, Sunset, Maghrib, Isha, and Midnight across major regional calculation methods like ISNA, Muslim World League, Umm al-Qura, Egyptian General Authority of Survey, Karachi, Tehran, and Jafari conventions. In addition to daily prayer timings, Salaah MCP calculates exact Qiblah direction angles and distances from any provided geographic coordinate. It also furnishes comprehensive solar position data and lunar transit metrics, including new moon visibility predictions using Yallop's criterion. Developers, researchers, and observant Muslim users can leverage the server to query complex celestial and religious calendar schedules through conversational prompts, eliminating manual schedule lookups.

bash git clone https://github.com/yusufk/salaah-mcp.git cd salaah-mcp 2. Install uv and the project dependencies: bash pip install uv uv install 3. Start the local server: bash uv run run.py 4. Add the server to your claude_desktop_config.json using an MCP proxy pointing to the SSE endpoint: json { "mcpServers": { "Salaah Times": { "command": "/Users/yusuf/.local/bin/mcp-proxy", "env": { "SSE_URL": "http://localhost:8000/mcp" } } } } 5. Restart Claude Desktop to begin querying prayer times and astronomical data.Part of MCP Servers
Salaah MCP computes Islamic prayer times for Fajr, Sunrise, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Midnight using recognized calculation authorities. It also calculates Qiblah directions and distances from specific coordinates, determines solar positioning metrics like transit and declination, and tracks lunar cycles, including phase illumination and crescent moon visibility via Yallop's criterion.
The server supports multiple regional calculation standards, including the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), Muslim World League (MWL), Umm al-Qura University in Makkah, Egyptian General Authority of Survey, University of Islamic Sciences in Karachi, Institute of Geophysics at University of Tehran, and Shia Ithna Ashari Leva Research Institute.
You can set up the server by cloning its GitHub repository, installing the uv package manager via pip, and running uv install to handle dependencies. After dependencies are installed, you launch the service using the command uv run run.py, which hosts the API locally on port 8000 by default.
Salaah MCP is designed to integrate with Model Context Protocol clients such as Claude Desktop. Because the server exposes an SSE endpoint through FastAPI, users typically bridge the local web service to Claude Desktop by configuring an mcp-proxy utility in their Claude Desktop configuration file.
