MeteoSwiss Data is an MCP server that connects AI assistants to official meteorological information from the MeteoSwiss Open Government Data portal. Designed for developers, researchers, and users tracking Swiss weather conditions, it enables language models to retrieve multi-day forecasts across roughly 6,000 Swiss postal codes, stations, and place names. The server also provides real-time measurements from approximately 300 weather stations updated every ten minutes, monitoring metrics like temperature, wind speed, air pressure, and humidity. Beyond standard forecasts, it supports regional pollen concentration monitoring across 15 monitoring sites and historical climate series from the National Basic Climatic Network dating back decades. Agents can query station networks using names, cantons, or GPS coordinates, while also performing web searches and full-page content retrieval from the official MeteoSwiss website in German, French, Italian, and English without requiring an API key.

bash claude mcp add meteoswiss https://meteoswiss-mcp.ars.is/mcp 2. Alternatively, install the server in Cursor directly from the Cursor Directory or add it manually under Settings -> MCP. 3. To run via container, start the self-hosted Docker image: bash docker run -p 3000:3000 ghcr.io/eins78/meteoswiss-mcp:latest 4. For additional configuration settings, environment variables, and Claude Desktop configuration details, consult the meteoswiss-mcp README in the official repository at https://github.com/eins78/mcp-server-meteoswiss.Part of MCP Servers
MeteoSwiss Data is an open-source MCP server that provides AI agents with direct access to Swiss weather observations, multi-day forecasts, pollen levels, and historical climate datasets provided by the MeteoSwiss Open Government Data initiative.
You can connect Claude Code to the hosted instance using the command claude mcp add meteoswiss https://meteoswiss-mcp.ars.is/mcp. Alternatively, install it via the Cursor Directory, deploy the Docker image ghcr.io/eins78/meteoswiss-mcp:latest, or use the npm package meteoswiss-mcp.
The server works with Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, and any MCP-compliant client. It also offers an alternative agent skill version using bash scripts for agents that support direct shell access.
No API key is required. The server pulls public information directly from MeteoSwiss Open Government Data, which is freely available for public and developer use.
The project is released into the public domain under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal license, allowing free personal, commercial, and research use.
